Quality of Life

REALTORS® sell much more than homes. They sell the Quality of Life! Everyone, including REALTORS®, wants economic vitality, affordable housing, a safe and attractive community and a healthy environment, because after all…..we’re your neighbours too! Quality of Life is determined by many factors – a few of which are:

  •   Is the community safe and attractive

Niagara Association of REALTORS® is in partnership with the Niagara Regional Police
Services to keep their communities safe through the Realty Watch Program

  •   Are there homes to buy where I want to live

REALTORS® believe home ownership is the dream of most people in the Niagara Region. Home ownership contributes to community responsibility, civic, economic, business and employment stability, family and financial security and well being.

  •   Are there jobs available now and for the future

An independent study by housing experts Altus Clayton on the “Economic Impacts of MLS® Homes Sales and Purchases…” found that every housing transaction in Ontario generates $47,575 in ancillary benefits to the local economy while also generating 84,065 direct and indirect jobs annually in Ontario.

  •   Can I get to and from work safely and quickly or are the roads jammed with traffic, are there good schools

Better communities come when governments work together to fund infrastructures such as roads, water, schools and transit that are the framework for a community’s Quality of Life. REALTORS® know what people value most – it’s an important part of the profession.

  •   Is the air, water and soil clean?

REALTORS® support government policies that encourage conservation and wise use of natural resources.

Five principles of Quality of Life….

  •  Protecting economic vitality

One key to Quality of Life is a strong economy. A vibrant economy creates jobs, expands the taxbase and revitalizes communities.

  • Providing housing opportunities

We all want a safe, decent and affordable range of housing near where we work, shop and play. We must grow the supply of housing – including choices about design, cost and location.

  • Preserving our environment

REALTORS® recognize one of the most important elements of Quality of Life is the environment: clean air and water, parks and open space.

  •  Protecting property owners

A strong economy depends on preserving the investment people have made in their homes by protecting the ability to freely own, use, buy and sell real property.

  •  Building better communities

Better communities come when governments work together to fund infrastructures such as roads, water, schools and transit that are the framework for a community’s Quality of Life.
