The city of Thorold, “Where the Ships Climb the Mountain”, is thriving with history and marine heritage with the locks, and is fun to explore by bicycle along the cycle friendly streets or along the Greater Niagara Circle Route. After all, the City of Thorold is proud to boast a "Bronze" award for a cycle-friendly community. You can even take a ride across the Welland Canal! Thorold offers the only ferry service on the Welland Canal and is a great means of transportation for cyclists over the canal at the half way mark of the 140 km Greater Niagara Circle Route, which brings the cyclists to Niagara Falls.
Residents and visitors can take in the breathtaking views of boats travelling through Lock 7 and learn about the history.
